Roots to me are a very important part of our past and here is one of the main roots of my past
This is my Grandfather with one of his horses at a logging camp he ran about 1950.
Pop (as we called him) was one of the gentlest men i have ever met or hope to meet, yet he had the strength to build and run crews of woods workers from all nationatilites, and at the same time raise a large family
Pop loved his horses and cared for them like they were people, i seen have him work with horses of all kinds of temperament and never saw him abuse a horse .
most of his horses became better at their work and their temperament while he owned them, if they would not learn to work properly or behave themselves after a time he would sell them or trade them often at a money loss rather than force them to do things his way.
some people saw this as being soft but i think it was the kindness in his heart that made him treat his animals that way because many times i seen him treat the horses like we would treat our best friend
